Need more information about advocating for state and federal policies important to those with asthma and allergies? Looking for more information on the issues that affect you and your family? AAFA has a number of resources and reports that are useful for advocates.

AAFA Reports

Each year, AAFA conducts research into policies that affect those living with asthma and allergies. Our reports provide more information about your state’s asthma and allergy rates, as well as the laws and policies that are designed to protect health and improve quality of life.

AAFA’s State Honor Roll™ Report

The State Honor Roll of Asthma and Allergy Policies for schools is AAFA’s annual research project to help identify states with the most comprehensive and preferred statewide public policies supporting people with asthma, food allergies, anaphylaxis, and related allergic diseases in U.S. elementary, middle, and high schools. The goal of this report is to identify state-level progress towards better school-based policies, and to provide a blueprint for advocates nationwide. Find out where your state stands on protecting people with asthma and allergies!

The 2019 State Honor Roll Report was released on Sept. 4, 2019. Visit statehonorroll.org to learn more!

Asthma Disparities in America

The burden of asthma in the United States falls disproportionately on Black, Hispanic and American Indian/Alaska Native people. These groups have the highest asthma rates, deaths and hospitalizations. AAFA’s Asthma Disparities in America report examines how asthma affects Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous populations in the United States. This report is an update to AAFA’s 2005 report on asthma disparities. Learn more about the report.

Elijah’s Law Report and Advocacy Toolkit

In 2022, AAFA partnered with the Elijah-Alavi Foundation (EAF) to publish Child Care Policies for Food Allergy: Elijah’s Law Report for U.S. States and Territories. The report includes two parts: a review of state-level policies protecting children with food allergies in child care programs, and a toolkit for advocates to support Elijah’s Law in new states.
