The AAFA Alaska Chapter serves all Alaskan residents affected by asthma and allergies. We serve patients of all ages. Also, we provide resources for healthcare professionals, caregivers and childcare providers. We work with our communities to make Alaska a better place for those with allergies and asthma.
We offer several programs for patients and caregivers. Here are just a few that we offer:
AAFA Alaska hosts the Wheezin’, Sneezin’ & Itchin’ conference each September. Alaskan healthcare providers can attend for 15 CMEs (nursing contact hours). Local experts discuss best practices and guidelines.
Peninsula Puffers is a summer camp held with Camp Fire USA. It is held in Cooper Landing, Alaska, for children ages 7 -14 with asthma and food allergies.
Members of AAFA Alaska receive a quarterly e-newsletter, The Daily Meter.
AAFA Alaska also wrote a children’s book. Wheezin’, Sneezin’ & Itchin’ in Alaska is unique to Alaska. A moose, puffin, bear and porcupine educate children about asthma and allergies. They help each other learn to live lives without limits while at summer camp.
