In November 2011, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed into law the 2011 Wisconsin Act 85 which allows students to possess and use epinephrine auto-injectors while at school with the approval of their physician and guardian. This is a huge step in protecting the health of students with allergies across Wisconsin. With this law, Wisconsin becomes the 49th state to ensure students’ right to self-carry and self-administer prescribed anaphylaxis medication. AAFA applauds the efforts made in Wisconsin and hopes that New York will soon pass similar legislation.
